Söderberg & Partners Wealth Management offer a Stocks & Shares JISA that can be opened for a child under the age of 18. Once the child turns 18, the JISA turns into an ordinary ISA through what is called a JISA graduation process.
Please note that a JISA may only be opened by a parent or registered guardian of the child.
You can find all the ISA documentation, including Key Features Document and JISA declaration, on our website.
Opening a JISA
- Go to the Adviser Portal and log in.
- Via the Clients tab in the top menu OR the search bar in the top right hand corner, navigate to the client that you are opening the JISA for, i.e. the parent or guardian of the child.
- In the client profile, click Create new account
- Give the account an appropriate name, and choose JISA as the wrapper type.
- Choose the JISA applicant (the child). If no child is registered to the client yet, click Add new child and enter the required information. N.B. this will navigate you away from the JISA creation journey and you will need to start this journey again once the child client has been created.
- Enter the NIN for the child. If the child does not have a NIN, tick the box for Client does not have a national insurance number and the system will generate a CONCAT code for them.
- Once you have reviewed the details and submitted the new child to the platform, you will be automatically navigated to their new client record. From here, use the 'parent' hyperlink to navigate back to the parent record.
- You may then recommence creating the new account, this time selecting the newly created child.
- Enter information about account management, investment strategy, asset allocation, and fees.
- Click Review to double check that all the information is correct.
- If you need to change something, click the Edit option, otherwise proceed with Submit and you will receive a notification to confirm the account has been successfully created:
- If the client already has an active ISA or JISA on the platform and they have previously accepted terms and the ISA declaration, the account will immediately be created with the status Active. They will receive an email to notify them that an account has been created and they will be able to view this in their Client Portal.
- If the client did not previously have an ISA or JISA, an email notification will be sent out that they need to log in to the Client Portal to view and accept terms. Before they have done so, the account is created but with status Pending and transactions blocked.
