This article will outline the process for linking a client's account for investment in to an advisory model portfolio. This same process applies where the client is already linked to a model and you wish to change the selection, and we will also cover how to switch to a bespoke fund selection, removing the model.
- Log in to the platform and find the relevant client record, either via the client search bar, or in the 'Clients' tab:
- In the client record, click on the account you wish to link in order to open it:
- Go to the Account details tab, scroll to the Investment strategy section and select Edit:
- If you are investing in a DFM model, select ‘Yes’ to this account being managed on a discretionary basis, select Model, and you will then be presented with a list of all DFM models that your firm has been given access to. Access is managed by the DFM. If you are unsure if a particular DFM is set up on platform, please contact us on servicecentre@soderbergpartners.com.
- If you are investing in an Advisory model, select ‘No’ to this account being managed on a discretionary basis and ‘Yes’ to choosing the client’s investment strategy. Select Model as the Investment Strategy, and then from the dropdown, select the relevant model:
- Click on Review to check the details entered, and then click on Submit. The investment strategy will now show as the selected model, and a rebalance will commence automatically in order to trade the client's money as per the model. The trades will show under the 'Pending Transactions' tab on the account record:
- If you wished to change the model, you would follow the process as per the above, selecting the new model from the dropdown this time. Please note, this will trigger a rebalance when submitted.
- If you wished to change to a bespoke investment strategy, instead of choosing a model, you would select 'bespoke' as the investment strategy, and from there you can select the desired funds. Note this does NOT trigger a rebalance, so in order to switch the funds, you would need to trigger a manual rebalance.
- If you wish to remove the model completely without triggering any trades, answer 'No' to the 'Would you like to choose your client's investment strategy' question, and this will sever the link with the model without selling down the client's holdings.
