Yes we have a Capital Gains Tax tool! You can find it here on the platform:
What If Scenario Planner
The What-if scenario planner enables you to explore potential disposal outcomes before placing a trade. You can:
- Enter the number of units you wish to sell
- View estimated gains and projected cash proceeds
- Understand CGT implications ahead of trade execution
- Download a summary of proposed trades for client approval
To use this, simply:
- Head to the clients overview page and select 'Capital gains'
2. When in the Capital gains tool, you will see 3 dots on accounts where you can calculate CGT. Click these dots, and select the 'Capital Gains Scenario Tool' button
3. You can then select an asset in the clients account, enter the units the client is thinking about selling and you will be met with a total gain/loss at the bottom of the page
4. You can download the spreadsheet which can be used for your reporting or records.
Target Cash Amount
‘What If’ scenario to see how to generate a target cash amount through a range of strategies. This means you can calculate the disposals required to reach any chosen cash target.
To use this, simply:
Select 'Raise Target'
You can then enter the £ amount you wish to raise, choose whether you would like to calculate by value or gain and select the disposal strategy
Available strategies include:
- Highest or lowest units
- Highest or lowest total gains
- Highest or lowest percentage gains
- Proportionally across all holdings
Example
If a position is worth £1,000 and includes £200 of capital gains:
- Choosing Value means the full £1,000 counts toward your target when sold.
- Choosing Gain means only the £200 gain contributes toward the target.
Once the disposal startegy is selected, the tool calculates how to meet your target, showing how many units would be sold from each asset, the total value raised, and the capital gain realised. You can manually adjust these figures if needed.
